Jamie's 23rd Bithday!

Yesterday we celebrated Jamie's 23rd Birthday. Jamie is one of the first people I met when I moved to Alaska, and we have now been living together for the past year. We only have 2 1/2 months left of living together, so we are making the most of out time! We started it off with the Airshow, but didn't let the fun stop there. We then piled 5 of us safely into a 3 person truck (just momentarily I might add...until we picked up a 2nd vehicle) We then went and rode go-garts. Afterwards we went to the Sourdough Mining Company for dinner, for their amazing Korn Fritters. It was fun, but we decided never to go there again during tourist season! Jamie even got birthday kisses from Britten. We then went back to our house for Top Gun. It was a fun night.

Engagement Photos

We got our Engagement Pictures back, and I wanted to share some of them. Our friend, Joanna, took them for us. We went out to Westchester Lagoon for our mini photo shoot. It is where Mike propsed, so it had a lot of meaning for us. It was supposed to rain that day, but we were blessed with Sunshine! It was a little chilly out, but we had a lot of fun! Now the hard part is picking out the best ones for our announcements!

Thunderbirds Air Show

Today we went to the Air Force Thunderbirds show out on the base.
It took us over an hour to get there (even though I live 5 minutes from the base) due to all of the traffic. It was all worth it once we got there, because the show was amazing. They were traveling at about 1,000 mph, and doing tricks at the same time! We had a lot of fun looking at all of the aircraft that was out on display. It inspired us to go home later that night and watch Top Gun!

Kenai Camping Trip

Last weekend we went down to Kenai for Forrest's softball tournament. We went last year, and had so much fun, so we decided to go again this year. I had class on Saturday morning, so Mike and I drove down after I was done and met up with Forrest, Brittney, and a bunch of Forrest's family. We had found a beach down there that we could camp on, so we set up camp and had fun roasting hot dogs, marshmallows and watching Forrest play his games. He lost all of his games on Saturday, so on Sunday Mike and I woke up and decided to drive down to Homer. Mike had never been down there before, so I thought it would be fun to walk around the Spit and show him Katchmak Bay. Homer is the Halibut Capitol of the world, so we were surrounded by tourists, but it's a fun little city (if you can call it that!) It was fun to take a little road trip, hopefully we'll be able to go down there again soon when we can spend more time.

Flat Stanley

This last week we had the opportunity of spending it with Flat Stanley! Dr. Bilan's godson sent him from New York to visit Anchorage, AK. We were instructed to dress him up as though he lived here, and since it is summer we made him fishing attire. It was quite fun and Flat Stanley got to do a lot of Alaska activities, such as: get his picture with a King Salmon, participate in our engagement photos, see the Kenai River, Go to the Kenai Peninsula and camp, Go to Homer (the Halibut fishing capitol of the world) and go out on the Homer Spit and look at the boat harbor and see the beautiful scenery of Katchamak Bay. We now have to part with Flat Stanley and send him back to NY, but we sure had fun while it lasted!
